Bose McKinney & Evans Welcomes James Sales to Intellectual Property Group


The law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP is pleased to announce the addition of partner James Sales to the Intellectual Property Group. Sales brings to the firm extensive experience managing intellectual property matters from around the world in the chemical and biopharmaceutical industries.

During his 14 years working for Eli Lilly and Company, Sales focused on client counseling for pharmaceutical research and development and marketing teams along the entire development timeline, including post-launch product teams and teams in early development. He has experience in global patent portfolio and exclusivity creation, legal opinions, product life-cycle planning, Hatch-Waxman litigation strategy and support, transactional work, international patent procurement and enforcement, as well as considerable managerial experience.

As general patent counsel for JohnsonDiversey, Inc., Sales was responsible for developing intellectual property strategies and policies, including patent portfolio management, licensing of intellectual property, litigation management, acquisitions/dispositions and budgeting.

Sales earned his Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He received his juris doctorate from the Indiana University School of Law - Indianapolis.

Sales is admitted to practice in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and the states of Indiana and Illinois. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association.
