The Indianapolis law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans has formed a strategic alliance with Colorado-based Jondle & Associates, P.C. to expand services to biotechnology clients.

Bose McKinney & Evans patent attorneys will work with Jondle & Associates patent attorneys to prepare biotechnology patent applications for Bose McKinney & Evans clients. The strategic alliance with Jondle & Associates would include access to eight patent attorneys from Swanson & Bratschun, LLC, who have a special counsel relationship with Jondle & Associates. Swanson & Bratschun was ranked first in the biotech category by PatentRatings LLC’s patent quality survey, as reported in the March 2005 issue of IP Law & Business. The patent attorneys holding doctorate degrees in genetics, molecular biology, organic chemistry and biochemistry, and a scientific advisor who holds a medical degree, will complement the technical and engineering degrees held by members of the Bose McKinney & Evans Intellectual Property (IP) Group.

Jim Coles, co-chair of Bose McKinney & Evans’ Intellectual Property Group, stated that the Jondle firm’s technical knowledge will have an immediate impact on Bose McKinney & Evans’ biotechnology efforts. “This adds a significant component to our technical abilities,” Coles said. “With the number of people holding doctorate degrees in the Jondle firm, we can greatly increase our capacity in genetics, molecular biology, organic chemistry and biochemistry, and assist clients even more efficiently and effectively with technical and IP issues.”

Jondle & Associates already has a number of Indiana intellectual property clients. As requested by the clients and Jondle & Associates, Bose McKinney & Evans will provide non-IP legal services to these clients.

“We recognized this as an opportunity to bring together people from a variety of technical backgrounds and business experiences to serve companies and universities involved in life sciences,” Ken Crook, managing partner of Bose McKinney & Evans, said. “The broad resources of our firm and our experienced attorneys stand ready to provide support to the overall life sciences initiative in Indiana, and specifically those companies and universities that are at the center of that effort.”

“We are pleased to be able to work with Bose McKinney & Evans in Indiana in the preparation and prosecution of biotechnology patent applications, and to refer companies to Bose McKinney & Evans for their legal needs beyond intellectual property,” Robert Jondle, managing partner of Jondle & Associates, said.
