Bose McKinney & Evans LLP is pleased to announce that Stephen Starks has joined the firm as an associate in the firm’s Litigation Group.

Starks practices primarily in the area of commercial litigation where he represents clients in commercial landlord / tenant matters and general construction litigation.

Upon graduation from law school, he served for one year as a clerk for the Honorable Theodore (Ted) R. Boehm in the Supreme Court of Indiana. Before that he served as a summer associate for Bose McKinney & Evans and Hoeppner Wagner & Evans (Valparaiso and Merrillville) where he researched legal issues in numerous areas including property, workers’ compensation, contracts, criminal law and products liability. A native of Ft. Wayne, Ind., he received his law degree from the Valparaiso University School of Law where he was Chief Justice of the Moot Court Honor Society and a Midwest Regional Board member of the National Black Law Students Association.

A resident of Indianapolis, he was an integral member of the Valparaiso University School of Law Sports Law Clinic through which he argued a case before the Court of Arbitration for Sport and traveled to the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy to serve as standby counsel to English speaking athletes. He earned his bachelor of science in pre-medicine from Drexel University where he was a decorated member of the Men’s Varsity Basketball Team. Upon graduation, he played professional basketball in the United States, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Starks is admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana and before the Federal Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
