Laura Pontius is of counsel in the Labor and Employment Group. Ms. Pontius represents employers in immigration matters. She advises employers concerning I-9 verification compliance, E-Verify and related immigration–employment enforcement. She assists clients before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services with immigration issues surrounding visa status for foreign employees. She helps organizations and foreign workers obtain or extend appropriate temporary and immigrant status visas, including H-1B special occupation visas, E visas, religious worker visas, fiancé visas and student visas. Ms. Pontius also works with employers and their employee’s families on permanent residence visa status both with adjustment of status and consular processing.
Prior to joining Bose McKinney & Evans, Ms. Pontius was the manager and director of a boutique immigration law firm.
Ms. Pontius graduated from the University of Wyoming College of Law, with honors. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in international studies and religious studies from Indiana University – Bloomington.
