The law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP is pleased to announce that partner James Hamilton will serve as a presenter at an upcoming webinar offered by the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO). His presentation, “Affordable Care Act: Implementation Roadmap for Colleges and Universities,” will take place on May 1 at 1 p.m. ET.
NACUBO is a membership organization representing more than 2,500 colleges, universities, and higher education service providers across the country and around the world. During the association’s webinar, Hamilton and other presenters will discuss how colleges and universities can prepare to meet new requirements in healthcare insurance based on the Affordable Care Act. Many of the Act’s most impactful provisions go into effect on January 1, 2014, with substantial financial penalties for noncompliance.
Topics covered in the webinar will help attendees understand:

  • The employer shared responsibility provisions of the Act and who needs to be covered;
  • State exchanges and the implications of full-time employees obtaining coverage through one;
  • Definitions and common concepts woven throughout the employer rules; and
  • How self-funded plans are treated under the Act.

Maureen Pinnick, manager of employee resources for Franklin College, and Dan Rives, associate vice president of university human resource services for Indiana University, will also join Hamilton to present the webinar.
Hamilton, a partner in the firm’s Business Services and Tax Groups, advises clients on health and welfare arrangements, insurance, executive compensation and taxation. His experience in federal and state law, as well as taxes, has helped numerous business owners, including employers of small businesses and nonprofits.
Since joining Bose McKinney & Evans in 2001, Hamilton has become a frequent author and speaker who has delivered nearly 200 speeches to professional organizations and clients. He is included in The Best Lawyers in America®.
