The Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission (ATC) will hold its annual alcoholic beverage permit auction on October 30, 2013. The auction will take place at the Indiana Government Center South, 302 West Washington Street in Indianapolis. Bidder check-in will begin at 10 a.m. and the auction will start at 11 a.m.
The ATC will auction a total of 60 permits, available for several Indiana communities.
Prospective bidders must complete a pre-qualification packet and provide $500 to $1000 pre-bid security, depending on the type of permit sought. The ATC must receive the pre-qualification packet and pre-bid security before the close of business on October 19, 2013.
Once a bid is accepted at auction, the successful bidder must still apply for the appropriate permit and go through the normal application process, including a hearing before the local alcoholic beverage board, at which community members may testify for or against the issuance of the permit. After the local board recommends approval or disapproval, the ATC will make a final decision on whether the applicant should be issued the permit.
