One of the most exciting times in Indiana each year is May. However, it is important for establishments to not accelerate into promotions of racing events too early, or to leave signs up too long.
Why? Because in Indiana, there are rules on how long businesses may display banners promoting national sporting events. This year, the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission uses the date of the Grand Prix (GP) to count forward for the 21 day rule. Since the GP is on May 12 this year, banners were allowed, starting on April 21. They will need to be taken down before June 2.
