Restaurants, bars and other entertainment establishments may be approached by third parties offering to provide gaming-related events and/or sports wagering information. Often the offer involves displaying up-to-the-minute sports betting lines, over-under totals and other gaming statistics from licensed gaming operators through TV screens set up in the establishment. The goal of providing the sports wagering information is to keep clientele more engaged and willing to stay longer at the establishment. However, such activities are not yet specifically approved by the Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) and the establishment engaged in displaying the sports wagering information may be subject to regulatory oversight. Any owner of a bar, restaurant or entertainment venue should work in conjunction with the licensed gaming operator and the third-party to seek necessary guidance, oversite and approvals from the IGC.
