The law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans LLP is pleased to announce the addition of John Emanuele to the firm as a member of the Intellectual Property Group.

He has experience drafting and prosecuting U.S. patent applications and managing the prosecution of patent application filed in foreign countries. Emanuele prepares and files appeals before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and manages opposition proceeding initiated in foreign jurisdictions. He also drafts patentability and freedom to operate opinions and contributes to patent infringement litigation case analysis and support. His experience includes working for clients in the pharmaceutical, agricultural, biotechnology, diagnostic, food, polymer, alloys, and medical device industries.

Emanuele has helped clients in specific technologies including: novel small molecules and antibodies for the treatment of human and animal diseases; nano-material; repurposed drugs; novel drug formulations; siRNA therapeutics; genetically modified organisms including yeast, bacteria, plants and animals; compounds to label DNA/RNA and proteins; polymers; novel dye molding processes; fungicides, herbicides, insecticides; specialized metal alloys; and engineered enzymes.

Prior to earning his law degree, Emanuele worked in the corporate sector as a research scientist in the bio-energy industry, pharmaceutical, and food flavor and fragrance industries. He served as a post-doctoral research fellow at a major pharmaceutical company and a senior research scientist in a start-up biotechnology company.

Emanuele earned his J.D. at the University of Wisconsin, holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Texas A&M University and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin.

He is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, the Executive Licensing Society, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Chemical Society and the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
