Sam Laurin, chair of the Bose McKinney & Evans Construction Group, was recently elected to serve on the governing committee of the American Bar Association’s Forum on Construction Law.
Laurin was elected during the Forum on Construction Law’s annual meeting in Vancouver, BC. His three-year term will begin on September 1, 2023. The Forum is the largest organization of construction lawyers in the world, with more than 6,000 members who represent all segments of the construction industry: owners, design professionals, general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, suppliers, insurers and sureties.
“It is a tremendous honor to be selected for a leadership role in the Forum, an organization I’ve been involved with for many years and which has been so important to my professional development.” Laurin said. “I look forward to working with the rest of the governing committee to continue the Forum’s mission to serve the construction industry through education and leadership while building the best construction lawyers.”
Prior to being elected to the governing committee, Sam served as the chair of the Forum’s insurance, surety and liens division and was also a member of the Forum’s technology and DEI committees. Laurin is a frequent speaker and author on construction law topics for the Forum, including being a co-author of a chapter in two Forum books: the Construction Trial Desk Book and the 2017 A201 Deskbook.
At Bose McKinney & Evans, Laurin focuses his practice on litigating construction, commercial and insurance coverage disputes. Sam has been lead counsel in jury and bench trials in federal and state court. He has served as lead counsel in several arbitration proceedings, many of which involved construction issues. He is also a registered mediator in the state of Indiana.
