Alyssa Case is of counsel with BME’s Intellectual Property Practice Group, where she advises clients ranging from individuals and startups to multinational corporations on intellectual property matters, with a particular focus on patent preparation, prosecution and portfolio strategy. She works with clients to develop intellectual property strategies that support innovation, mitigate risk and position new technologies for success.
As a registered patent attorney, Alyssa counsels clients throughout the patent lifecycle, including assessing new products through patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses, preparing and prosecuting patent applications and managing established patent portfolios. She works closely with inventors and business teams to understand both the technical and commercial significance of new technologies to align patent strategies with business objectives.
Alyssa’s practice focuses heavily on patent prosecution and intellectual property portfolio management across a wide range of industries, including automotive, biotechnology, medical devices, chemicals, manufacturing and health care. She also has extensive experience coordinating foreign patent prosecution, including navigating the regulatory and procedural requirements of jurisdictions throughout Europe, India, China, Japan, Mexico, Australia, Canada, and additional jurisdictions throughout South America, Africa and Asia. Alyssa works with clients and foreign counsel to address jurisdiction-specific requirements and execute patent strategies across global portfolios.
Before joining Bose McKinney & Evans, Alyssa practiced with an intellectual property practice group at another law firm, where she focused on domestic and international patent prosecution, guiding applications from the initial drafting stage through issuance as patents and coordinating prosecution across multiple jurisdictions.
As a student at Indiana University Maurer School of Law, Alyssa built a strong foundation in intellectual property through internships with a medical device manufacturer and a leading agribusiness specializing in chemicals and biotechnology. She also worked as a graduate research assistant, where she focused on issues involving the intersection of patent and antitrust law, trademark protection, design patents and utility patent law under both the America Invents Act and the pre-AIA framework. Alyssa also earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and English and a certificate in business foundations from Indiana University. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in artificial intelligence at Indiana University.
