Steven Groth is a partner in the Litigation Group. He concentrates his practice in transportation, business, and professional liability litigation. He also helps clients with family law matters.

Transportation: Steven defends clients in the trucking industry against wrongful death and serious injury claims.  He helps motor carriers with cargo claims and premises liability claims.  He is a member of the Indiana Motor Truck Association (IMTA).  He serves as legal counsel for the Indianapolis transportation Club (ITC), as well as being a past president of the ITC.

Professional Liability: Steven defends architects and engineers against professional liability claims, which can arise from construction defects or construction accidents, and may involve personal injury claims or property damage claims. He also represents health care providers against claims of medical negligence.

Business Disputes: Steven advises businesses in matters involving contracts, insurance, and real estate, when the client is seeking to avoid a dispute, or when a dispute is imminent.  He looks to understand the context of the situation and explore business solutions before resorting to litigation, but he has extensive experience in the courtroom if litigation becomes necessary.

Family Law: Steven handles marriage dissolution cases, child custody disputes, and child support cases for individuals.  He strives to minimize the financial and emotional impact of the legal system on his clients and their children.

Steven has significant jury trial experience, and has briefed and argued successful appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the Indiana Court of Appeals. He received his B.S. in accounting from the University of Illinois in Champaign, and his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis. During law school he was an Honors Intern with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.  He is a Certified Public Accountant, and is a former member of the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General’s Corps, where he served as prosecutor, defense counsel, and Assistant Professor of Military Justice at the United States Naval Academy. He is admitted to practice in federal and state courts of Indiana and Illinois, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.
